Landlords Beware

It never ceases to amaze me how some people can be so malicious to try to make money from online scams.  In reality, if these scammers put the same amount of effort into starting a blog on avoiding scams or offer online security tips, they would probably make more money! 

In this case, the scammers try to get unsuspecting landlords to return them money because they overpaid the deposit, but the scammer’s check later bounces.  When you see emails like these, please delete them.  Do not respond and open up a dialog with a thief.  At some point, the word will be out enough that these scammers will not find their efforts fruitful and will have to try something different. 

Here is a sample of a recent email I received:

this is mc collins.conputer engeenier am a in the uk.i ave a contract in the usa in newyork for just two months so i need an apartment to logde so i found your site interesting and i want u to estimate the cost of a two bedroom flat for two months and send a reply to { sindel_roland09@yahoo.com
i will be moving over by 25th april.and to know if u will collect a certified cheque?
