Using the Internet to Rent
Let’s face it. Using the classified ads section of your local paper is quickly becoming a thing of the past. While still useful, most people are searching for rentals online.
Why is that the case? For the most part, renters can get online for almost anywhere and find rental listings quickly. But even more important, is that online ads can offer more information about the rental.
So why are most rental ads just a few lines of text about the property features and some contact information? I don’t know. Advertising a rental on the Internet is all about providing as much information as you can so you will rent a property quickly. An online ad should let a renter visualize the property without actually being there. It also limits the amount of questions tenants will have when comparing properties or when they call you.
Your ad should spell out all of the benefits and features of the rental. Provide clear information on the location and what is nearby. Amenities, photos, rent, fees and deposits should all be spelled out. Think of all the questions a renter may want to ask you. Then write up an effective ad that answers these questions and persuades a renter to contact you.
When the renter does get in touch with you, the only question they should have is “when can I see the place?”
