Scotts Deluxe EdgeGuard Broadcast Spreader

Well, it was time to fertilize my lawn this weekend and I needed a new spreader.  I went to the Home Depot and purchased the latest Scotts Broadcast Spreader

Putting this together was not like the old days.  It was simply folded in half and snapped into place in two seconds.  Next I set the opening to the recommendation on the bag.  This was very simple and precise.  Not like my last spreader where I had to guess a little, and over time the opening was way off causing me to use too much fertilizer.

Filling the bin was great.  It actually fit the whole 15000 sq ft bag of fertilizer so I did not have to load it multiple times.  Another nice feature is the hand grip that lets you control when the spreader is working.

A bit of a drawback was the ability to push the spreader in my yard.  I found this a bit difficult.  The wheels are not great and the handle bar is too short for me and won’t adjust higher.  I had to stop many times to rest.

However, the spreader worked great and put down the right amount of fertilizer.

Overall this is a very good product that I recommend.  I paid $40 which seems a bit high, but considering I saved about a bag of fertilizer by not spilling it all over, it was well worth it.

Get your rental property in shape by fertilizing now and it may help you keep it rented later.
